|
11 August 2010
In the name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful. May His peace and
blessing be upon Muhammad (Sallalaahu Alaihi Wasallam), his family,
companions and all the good people until the day of judgment.
On this occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadhan, I am most pleased to
express my heartiest Ramadhan Al-Kareem Mubarak to the Muslim
community in New Zealand. The holy month of Ramadhan is the month of
prayers, charity and blessings, forgiveness and protection from hellfire. This
is also the month of victory and self-development.
As we prepare to welcome the holy month, we thank and praise Allah
Almighty for blessing us with many things and offering us yet another
opportunity to fast in this blessed month, perform pious deeds and to receive
more of His Mercy and Bounty.

For Muslims all over the world, the holy month of Ramadan is of very special
importance. It is observed throughout the world with all sanctity and
reverence that it demands. Ramadhan is not only a time for worship,
reflection and brotherhood, but also one that should encourage us to have
care and compassion and transform our communities to be better.
If we observed the fasting with patience, perseverance and sincerity, it is sure
to instill discipline and steadfastness in us and to perform good deeds for
ourselves, our families, our communities and our country.
The month of Ramadhan is also about doing good work for society. Muslims
are enjoined to do good for his fellow human beings. Helping the poor and
the indigent, bringing relief to the needy and orphans, providing safety for
weak members of the society are but few examples of good work.
During this special time, we should also remember our brethrens who suffers
from war and persecution and other calamities in this world. We should be
concerned for the deprived and distressed people in our community and
commit ourselves to care for the needy, always applying the power of sabr
(patience), and recognize the sharing the joys and feeling the sorrows so that
it will help us to taste the power and sweetness of Ramadhan.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala accept our fasting and good deeds and May
Allah SWT keep us united on the true path and reward us abundantly.
Please remember us in your Duas.
Dr Anwar-ul Ghani
