Dear Mayor

Support From The Federation Of The Islamic Associations Of New Zealand (FIANZ)

On behalf of the Muslim community of New Zealand, I am writing to express our extreme sadness at the recent tragedy that has occurred at the Pike River coal mine where 29 miners have been trapped for the past few days.

I am sure that under your able and steadfast leadership the rescue operations will be undertaken meticulously and in great earnest. The Muslim community of New Zealand would like to assure Your Worship, that in this time of sorrow, we stand in solidarity with you, the family of the trapped miners, all the rescue crew and the wider West Coast citizens. Our hearts are with you all.

We pray to God Almighty that our miners will soon be rescued and join their loved ones. We also pray to Him to give us the strength and forbearance to overcome this ordeal.
