"Two New Zealanders Rank Among Islam's Top 500"

The Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ) Inc is pleased to acknowledge a report carried by the New Zealand Herald in its 10 August 2010 issue under the title "Two New Zealanders rank among Islam's top 500".

It is indeed a high honour for the President of FIANZ, Dr Anwar Ghani, to be ranked among the 500 most influential Muslims in the world, alongside Kings, Sheikhs and Islamic Scholars.

Dr Ghani was acknowledged for his lead role in the Federation and initiating various programmes including building bridges, stakeholders forum, economic forum, Eid in the Parliament and other programmes involving the New Zealand Government and the wider community so that the Muslim community is able to reach out and be part of the nation building process. He works for FIANZ as a volunteer. Currently, he works as a senior environmental scientist for AgResearch based at Hamilton.

The Federation is proud to note Dr Anwar Ghani's selection into the top 500 World influential Muslims list relates to the partnership of FIANZ with government and wider society where the President lead from the front.
