Sheik Taj Aldin Alhilali is NOT the Mufti of New Zealand & Fianz REJECTS His Alleged Comments

The Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ) Inc wishes to clarify a report carried by the New Zealand Herald in its 27 October 2006 issue under the title "(Cleric Says Uncovered Women Like Abandoned 'Meat') ".
It must be brought to the attention of the general readership that Sheik Taj Aldin Alhilali is NOT the mufti of New Zealand.
FIANZ as the umbrella body of seven regional Muslim Associations in New Zealand has been in existence for round 25 years and plays a valuable role in coordinating the activities and interests of the Muslim community in New Zealand.
The Federation strongly feels that associating Sheik Alhilali as the Mufti of New Zealand is COMPLETELY INACCURATE. FIANZ also REJECTS the comments he has allegedly made which were reported in the Herald and wishes to distance itself from the reported statement of Sheik Alhilali.
